Designed for evolving conditions, the ProForm Contour provides multiple adjustment options and ensures the chair can be recycled between users. There is the option to purchase additional features and these are detailed in Optional Accessories Section.
For more information on seating posture and assessment please see our downloadable Clinical Posture Guide in the Downloads Section.
MechanismsThe ProForm Contour comes in either an electric or manual model. The features are the same for both models except that the electric model comes with a handset that will operate the main movements of the chair which are the Independent Tilt in Space, Backrest Recline and Leg Rest adjustments. All other adjustments/movements are operated manually on both models. Both models come with:
For further details on these mechanisms, with video clips, visit the Mechanism Section. |
Tool-Free AdjustmentsThe ProForm Contour features an adjustable head rest, seat depth, seat width, arm height and footplate as standard. All of these adjustments can be made by the care staff completely tool-free*. With these measurements able to be changed within seconds, the ProForm Contour can be altered for the next client easily and quickly, making it convenient for care environments. *Adjustments made to the headrest will require the use of an Allen key, which is provided upon purchase of the chair. |
Pressure Management Back CushionsThere is a choice of two interchangeable and adjustable pressure management back cushions that enable the chair to be adapted to a single user’s changing needs or to adapt the chair to another user. This ensures greater longevity of its usage. In addition, all cushions can be repositioned to suit a user’s individual seating preferences. Covers can also be removed for cleaning. See Back Cushion Section for more details. |
Pressure Management Seat CushionsThere is a choice of four interchangeable seat cushions each with different pressure management features. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning and replacement. See Seat Cushion Section for more details. |
Wing Handles And Back HandlesThe ProForm Contour is designed to be extremely easy to push and manoeuvre. Whilst the ProForm Contour comes with ergonomic back handles to guide the chair whilst the client is in an upright position, it also comes with additional easy-to-grip wing handles, providing a sturdy and comfortable hold, with the handles shaped and positioned to suit carers of different heights. These handles allow the chair to be easily moved and positioned even when an individual is in a fully reclined position. |
Four Heavy Duty Large Lockable Castors - Including One Directional CastorThe ProForm Contour comes with four heavy-duty lockable castors designed to easily glide over low profile carpets, wooden and vinyl flooring. This includes one directional castor, which when activated allows for more controlled movement. |
Padded Seat Chaise OverlayThe ProForm Contour benefits from a single, full cover over the whole of the seat. This chaise overlay, which is attached to the seat cushion, reduces the risk of pressure areas developing due to pinch points and shear and friction when the chair reclines. The chaise overlay/seat cover can be removed for cleaning and replacement. |
Foam Pad HeadrestThe ProForm Contour comes as standard with a foam pad headrest to ensure the head is supported while still offering comfort. |
Crafted with recyclability in mind, the ProForm Contour provides adjustability in several areas to accommodate changing needs and allow for reusability among other clients.
Headrest Depth AdjustmentThe headrest on the ProForm Contour can be adjusted by up to 50mm (2") using the provided Allen key. This helps to accommodate clients with conditions like curvature of the spine and ensure their head is still supported by the headrest. |
Headrest Angle AdjustmentThe angle of the headrest on the ProForm Contour can be easily changed using the provided Allen key. This helps to accommodate clients with conditions like curvature of the spine and ensure their head is still supported by the headrest. |
Headrest Height AdjustmentThe height of the headrest on the ProForm Contour can be altered by up to 100mm (4") to accommodate a range of users. |
Seat DepthTwo plungers can be located underneath the seat board that can be released to allow the entire back frame to slide backwards or forwards, which in turn enables the seat depth to be changed from 381mm (15") up to 534mm (21"). This can accommodate clients with a larger gluteal shelf or users with a larger frame. |
Seat WidthThe outer arm panel can be removed to reveal plungers that can be released which allows you to pull the entire arm outwards. This increases the seat width of the ProForm Contour. The seat width measurement can be adjusted from 406mm (16") to 559mm (22"). |
Arm HeightThe ProForm Contour's arm height can be adjusted by removing the panel on the outer arm and releasing the plungers to achieve the desired arm height. This ensures the user's arms are still fully supported if they exhibit a leaning posture. The arm height can be adapted from 165mm (6.5") to 292mm (11.5"). |
Height Adjustable FootplateThe footplate on the ProForm Contour comes as standard, and is equipped with height and angle adjustment capabilities. The height of the footplate can easily be changed by pulling the release strap behind the leg rest. The seat to footplate length can then be altered from 495mm (19.5") up to 610mm (24"). This ensures a wider range of clients can be catered to and their feet can be fully supported by the footplate whilst the chair is in use. |
Angle Adjustable FootplateThe footplate on the ProForm Contour comes as standard, and is equipped with height and angle adjustment capabilities. The footplate has three angle positions to accommodate for fixed flexion and to assist with maintaining the foot position for users with drop foot. It can be folded up against the leg rest if required for access with a hoist. |
The following features can be purchased to enhance the functionality of the chair or customise it to the user's preference:
Drop-In CushionThe drop-in cushion is an alternative to the chaise overlay that comes as standard on the ProForm Contour. The crumb catcher insert is removable for ease of cleaning and the drop-in cushion can be easily removed and interchanged for developing conditions or different clients. |
Fibre Pad HeadrestAs an alternative to the Foam Pad Headrest, the client can opt for the Fibre Pad Headrest for a softer cushion. The fibres can also be removed as needed to suit the user's preference. |
Lateral WedgesThe Lateral Wedges attach easily to the back cushion by Velcro to provide additional support at the client's sides, which could be beneficial to those that exhibit a leaning posture. Available in 25.4mm, 50.8mm and 76.2mm (1”, 2” and 3”) with the Lateral Back Cushion only. |
Foam FootpadThe foam footpad can be simply secured to the footplate providing the user with a softer and deeper cushion support. Available in three sizes – 25.4mm, 50.8mm and 76.2mm (1”, 2” and 3”). |
PivotFit Shoulder HarnessThe PivotFit™ Shoulder Harness represents the latest in innovative design from Bodypoint. Distributing pressure across a great surface, the PivotFit Shoulder Harness offers a body-contouring shape for optimal support and a comfortable fit. Continuous smooth padding prevents dirt and debris getting trapped in the harness. The PivotFit harness can be purchased with either front pull adjustment or rear pull adjustment to suit the needs of most users. As the name suggests, the star feature of the PivotFit is the pivot buckle on the sternum strap, which prevents the harness becoming twisted and uncomfortable during movement. The harness comes as standard with no stretch in the upper straps, and is more suitable for corrective positioning. Please note: videos are for demonstration of the positioning accessories only and display a different chair. The ProForm range does not currently contain a paediatric model. |
Pelvic Positioning BeltsThe Bodypoint® range of pelvic positioning belts are created with the user in mind. Proper positioning of the pelvis is essential for daily functions, effective pressure distribution, and of course for comfort. Thoughtful design features of the Bodypoint® belts include - rounded edges on buckles so that these do not snag clothing, stain-proof extra-strength straps, and patented laminar pads covered with wrinkle-free material for a smooth and comfortable fit. Using rigorously tested materials, metal buckles and strong mountings, these belts won’t let you down. |
Two Point Push Button Centre Pull This type of belt has two points of attachment to the chair. Two-point attachment is suitable when the belt is supporting users with low tone or weakness. The push button buckle is 1/3 lighter than comparable push-button models. It is designed with rounded edges that improve comfort and prevent snagging on clothing. It has internal metal adjustments so that the belt tightens easily but does not loosen through the day. The cover on this buckle is modular so it can be removed easily for cleaning. Please note: videos are for demonstration of the positioning accessories only and display a different chair. The ProForm range does not currently contain a paediatric model. |
All our health fabrics are Waterproof, Anti-MRSA, Anti-bacterial, Anti-fungal, Crib 5 and bleach cleanable. All cushions and cushion covers are removable for cleaning purposes.

Depending on the seat cushion built into the chair the seat and arm height may vary slightly from the measurements shown.
There is a choice of two interchangeable pressure management back cushions that enable the chair to be adapted to a single user’s changing needs or to adapt the chair to another user. This ensures greater longevity of its usage. In addition, all cushions can be repositioned to suit a user’s individual seating preferences and fibres added or removed from fibre filled cushions to adjust firmness. Covers can also be removed for cleaning and replacement. |
ProForm Lateral
A soft fibre filled back with lateral support, which can be useful for those who have limited trunk control or balance.
ProForm Waterfall
Individual fibre filled waterfall cushions, each of which are fully adjustable to accommodate maximum postural support. The cushions are paired with the ProForm Contour's fully adjustable headrest for the ultimate customisation to the client.
There is a choice of four seat cushions each with different pressure management features. They can be removed and interchanged with one of the other seat cushion options. You can purchase one or more cushions to support the different needs of individuals who may use this chair. Cushions and covers are removable for cleaning and replacement. With all pressure management seat cushions, we recommend a fabric with four way stretch properties to aid the reduction of shear and friction. |
For those who have good posture and mobility but are seated for greater than one hour at a time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. This cushion has a high-density foam base which offers a supportive and firm seat base with a top layer of memory foam to allow immersion into the cushion, giving stability and a large surface area to reduce pressure levels.
For those sitting for long periods with specific comfort issues such as a high risk of pressure sores. This cushion uses the latest medical grade silicone gel technology allowing pressure to be evenly distributed. The gel conforms to the shape of the body and equalises to body temperature. The gel cells allow air to flow easily and Coolform is totally odourless and hypoallergenic.
For those who have good posture and mobility but sit for long periods of time and require pressure relief and supported comfort. Recommended for people with limited muscle bulk or at risk of excessive weight loss. This cushion has a high-density foam which offers a supportive and firm seat base. The foam is topped with a fluid liquid gel in a soft silicone cover which provides a high level of pressure relief. The liquid gel helps to dissipate heat and constantly adapts to the user’s movement.
For those sitting for long periods with specific comfort issues such as a high risk of pressure sores. Gelacell has a unique cell matrix that distributes pressure across the contact area, as it contours and yields in response to weight redistribution. Gelacell absorbs body heat, reducing the risk of creating an environment that could increase pressure risks, the grid design also encourages air circulation. Gelacell is clinically tested and passes all dermatological tests for skin contact.
Maximum weight of user 127 kg (20 stone)
The ProForm Contour comes in either an electric or manual model, both of which allow for the following movements:
Independent Tilt In Space (TIS)The Independent Tilt in Space works to counteract the effect of the person’s pannus. By having control over the angle of tilt you can adjust that person’s centre of gravity’ making them feel more comfortable, supporting the pannus, and reducing the feeling that they are being dragged forward by external forces. The TIS movement allows the seat to back angle to remain the same whilst the whole seating system is tilted backwards, which means that the angle of the hips, knees and ankles are not affected during this movement. It also reduces the weight on the Ischial Tuberosities and redistributes the weight through the back. This constant back angle prevents shear and friction during movement. This feature can also help when moving someone in a hoist and can support better pelvic positioning by optimising the use of gravity to position the user in the optimal position. |
Independent Backrest ReclineThe Independent Backrest Recline allows the person to maintain flexibility over their body’s position, particularly the amount of hip flexion, enabling them to maximise comfort as well as managing health needs. This unique feature allows the angle at which the TIS operates to be changed at any time. The backrest can be independently reclined providing a range of back angles allowing for optimal position for comfort. The angle range is 90 – 135 degrees. |
Independent Leg Rest AdjustmentThe leg rest angle of the ProForm Contour can be changed independently and can move from 90 degrees to 150 degrees. This offers the user additional flexibility over positioning, allowing them to use it in conjunction with the recline feature to create the optimal posture for their body shape. |
